1994 Other Mitsubishi Models Key will not turn engine over

I have a Mitsubishi Expo LRV 1994. The key will not turn in the ignition. I know that I need to step on the brake for the car to start and have done this. It will also not shift. I had tis problem about 3 months ago and a gentalman did something, but I do not know what it was. Can you please help me with this?

Check the repair manual or the owners manual for an override button still unable to, test the shift interlock system. Your brake lights are they working?
