Engine Mechanical problem
1994 Other Mitsubishi Models 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am trying to replace head gasket but cannot frmove the crankshaft pulley. Removed the nut holding it on but can't shake the pulley loose to remove timing chain. I contacted two dealers, one said use harmonic puller with threaded studs, which the pulley does not have. The second told me only Mitsubishi has super secret majical tool to remove(note the sarcasm). My question is how do I remove the crank shaft pulley to finish the disassembly of the motor and get at the head gaskets?

you need a special tool to remove the balancer but its a very common tool and cost about 50 bucks but usually your parts store has a loaner tool you can use. the puller has 3 jaws on it that grab the inside of pulley. the puller only works for this engine.
