1991 Other Mitsubishi Models over heats

I have a 1991 Mitsubishi 3000gt its been over heating on me, i start it and it right away over heats the coolant just remains in the radiator and dosent seem too move through the car .A machanic told me its the thermastat but i dont now please help anything will be appreciated thank you

Hi there,
The thermostat would be the Best place to start, and also flush and flow test the radiator, do this before you do some head damage.
