1989, mirage, 1.5 liter
k this is a car my dad just gave me, it starts no problem, but it stuters and has little power from a stop.
iv found that when I move the gas pedal the car will kinda kick in for a sec, but if I push the pedal down it just kinda boogs it does not like hills
but when I hit the sweet spot on the gas pedel the car really takes off it has great power.
this is what iv done so far, I was lucky to find a car with the same motor at the junkyard,
parts iv changed so far
1, mass air flow (that thing in the airfilter)
2, tps sen, (i had tried moveing this thing like a 100 times it has an effect but is not changing the problem).
3, power transiter, (or power diode, its found just above the valve cover).
3, cap, rotor, coil, capasitor, coil wire.
no real change,
I will fix this car one way or the other :)
pls help
(maybe a fuel problem? ) Aargg!
tnx

Hi there,
is your car a carburettor version or a fuel injected? Can you give chassis and engine number as well?

Its fuel injected, engine type 4G15,
im not sure of the chassis # or where to find that,
its a 3 door with AC, and those super sweet
auto seatbelts :(
k I found this silver plate on the firewall,
MODEL: C52AMKDEL7M
TRANSAXEL: KM171
?

Oww and today on the way home from work I noticed
the lights on the dash were flickering just slightly and the low fuel light was on but very dim and for only a short time then it stop, but the flickering was in sink with the sputtering, its like something is turning on or shorting out, ecu? (Where is it, id like to look at it, cuz I read that the capaister's in some of theses ecu's can leak and cause crazy 'ghost relay madness'
like one time the battery just died overnight, so I charged it and its fine now, the previous owner complain of this happening in the past.
Something strange is afoot.
Tnx for your time

my dads a TV repairman, I can fix anything, he has a awesome set of tools:)

Hi 68chevy,
the ecu is situated under the center console in front of the gear lever. Yes the capacitors do leak sometimes and give some funny symtoms.
For your flickering lights I think you've got a charging fault, could be a diode in the regulator and that would explain your flat battery.
Concerning yourmisfiring and splutters, I think you will need to make sure the ignition timing is ok and have a look at the timing marks as well.
