My trouble started when I jumpstarted another vehicle without turning off the switch on my daughters 2004 Mitsubishi Montero sport with a 3.5L engine.
The check engine light now stays on.
The code is P0181, Vapor, temperature sensor. I was told it was mounted on the fuel tank so that’s the one I changed. Is there a different sensor than this one on this vehicle that would turn this code on?
I was told by the dealer that the sensor (Part # MD322973) they had was not a temperature sensor but a vapor sensor only and that there was no temperature sensor in the full system.
I changed the sensor and cleared the code. The same code came back two days later.
Cleared the code again and it came back again the next day. Is there a specific way to install this sensor other than bolt it on and plug it in?
What do I do next?

Mitchell gives 3 possibilities-Bad sensor, bad circuit or connector damage, PCM failed. Might have hurt the PCM when it was jump started
