2001 Mitsubishi Montero over heating

My 2001 Montero still over heats after I changed the Fan clutch, thermostat and the heat sensor. While I am driving the temp gage will move all the way to hot and then move back to normal shortly after. Some times it only takes about 5 minutes and the gage will be pegged on hot. The water pump does not seem to have any play and I do not see any leaks under the truck and do not have to add any fluid. Any suggestions ??

Check the radiator fins for exccess debris. They may not be allowing enough air to pass thru! Blow out with an air blow gun with an extension..

I blew out the raditor and still ahve the same problem. I will explain in more detail.
I can be driving for 5 minutes and the temp gage will go all the way to hot, or drive all day and it not get hot. The same thing happens when i idle some times it gets hot and other times not. Could it be the water pump. I have looked for water leaks but have not seen any. Thanks BB

Could be, could also be an intermittent fan problem....problem will be more noticable at speeds lower than 35 MPH.

I have the exact same problem with my 2001 Montero. The fan, water pum, and radiator all function properly. Took it ot the dealership and found out the electrical board that governs the dash has a malfunction and needs to be sent back to the factory to be repaired/reprogrammed, or replaced. It also caused the fuel gauge to mess up. It will cost about $2000. Your local mitsu dealer should diagnose it for free.

If it's anything like US clusters, you might just resolder the points at the connector plugs, they dont use lead in the solder anymore, and it is causing problems on boards.
