I've had my vehicle for 2.5 years and it has run progressively hotter as time has gone on. I've been told that my water pump is out, but that seems like something that would have caused my car to stop working. When it's running hot it revs without me pressing the gas. Could it be my water pump? Could I have other issues?

Try replacing the thermostat its the one that controls the engine temperature. Its reving bcuz maybe the computer sees the engine is running hot from the coolant temperature sensor and increasing the idle to cool down the engine-
