My air conditioning is not working. I was told that the "blow off valve" on top of the compressor has blown and is leaking freon. Further that I could not just replace the valve but would need to replace the whole compressor because the part is not sold separately and it only sold together with the compressor. Is this true or not?

Hi well the valve is only suppose to open when a/c pressure is excessive. This is a spring loaded valve with a oring if it is leaking you can replace the o ring. But if it is building up high pressure and bleeding off then you have a restriction in the system. The same effect as if you hold your hand under your kit faucet and turn the water on the pressure will build and blow water around your hand. I woulld replace the oring and evac and recharge and see if this fixes the prob. If you need a new valve. You can go online to your compressor manufacture and order one. Good luck billymac

Hi Kip,

I have a favor to ask. I need you to start a new post. We try to keep the posts specific to one topic and year, make, and model vehicle. We do that so it is more helpful to others. I hope you understand. All I need you to do is copy and paste your question into a new post.

Here is the link that you need to get started:

Let me know if you have questions. And again, I hope you understand.

Take care,

Joe
