I have mitsubishi lancer 2002,120K, it shows service engine soon light ON? What could be the problem?

Need to take to local auto part store to have engine light codes retrieved. Ask your local part store to run a diagnostic scan on your engine light. Post code(s) you retrieve here and I will follow up.
