A month ago my car was leaking coolant and running hot. A pipe that leads to the radiator was replaced because it had holes in it and the radiator was flushed and filled. I never see steam coming from the car but every now and then the gauge moves toward hot. I don't see anything leaking either. Does my thermostat need to be replaced? What could be causing the gauge to move?

H Nettabug,

Check if the coolant level in the radiator is correct. It could be low causing the problem.

If coolant level is correct, check if the sending switch wire is secured.
