2001 wont idle

my car will crank but wont run or idle unless the airconditioner is on. Really confused about how to go about fixing whats wrong.

Have the PCM scanned for codes. It may have a faulty Idle Air Control motor or circuit problem. When the A/C is on, the PCM ups the idle to compensate for the drag on the engine, if the IAC isnt working properly it may just let the car die
