today the car was turned on... idled fine but when I shifted into Drive the car would not move forward. I continued to press on the accelerator up to 3500 rpms and the car jerked forward. The car will drive once I push on the accelerator and the car revs up to 3500 rpms. Once I come to a stop I have to rev the engine up to 3500 rpms again to get the car to jerk forward. it does this when I wish to go in reverse as well. I am unsure what needs to be checked. I looked at the ATF fluid, it is dark, looks brown to me but when the sun hits the fluid on the dipstick I see a red hue... it smells like engine fluid I can't tell if it is burnt or not. I know I have an IAC motor issue... but I am unsure if this is related. What should I have the dealer check for? Am I looking at costly repairs? Thanks for your help

Change the fluid and filter-if that don't work, bring it in and have it checked out-sounds like the tramsmission is slipping.
