1992 Mitsubishi Galant crankshaft pulley replacement

my crankshaft pulley failed, wore out, and I am replacing it with a new one. Do I have to line up any timing marks when I bolt the new one on? or are the marks on the new one for timing the engine when it is running? Thanks.
