The ecm went out on the car due to my daughters boyfriend. So in the mean time trying to figure out what was wrong with the car a mechanic replaced the fuel pump well then we found the engine control module was bad so we replaced that and had her key programmed. And then we went to put gas in the car and it wont let you put anything in and the gas gauge wont go up you can only pump a dollar in it and that's it So what I am asking is what would cause it does a fuel pump on these have to be programmed? Could there be a vapor lock or could the new fuel pump be bad HELP!Wendy

Hello,

It sounds like you might have a faulty EVAP purge solenoid. Due to that the pressure inside the tank is higher than it should be. That's why you are having difficult time filling up the gas tank.
You can test to see if the solenoid is working as intended.
Hook up a vacuum gauge to the port and have 12V power supply to the connector.
When you apply battery power you should have a leak and when the power gets turned off there should be no leak.

Also the resistance between the two terminals should be 30-34 Ohms.

This can also be triggered by a clogged charcoal canister.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
