I have a 2003 eclipse spider and at 66,000 miles was told the timing belt needs to be replaced. I replaced the timing belt and wihile they were replacing the time belt they suggested replacing the water pump and I did. Now at 85,000 miles I'm hearing a noise and was told it's the bearings on my water pump and it needs to be replaced again. Also was told the water pumps only last about 3 years. I was told it would cost about $600. Am I being scambed?

Hello .. thanks for the doantion .. much appreciated

It could be the water pump bearings are failing ? ... no time limit can be given for parts to wear out (could be 1 year, could be 5 years) .. It could also be the timing belt tensioner making the noise, especially if this was not replaced at the same time as the belt ? The only real way to tell what part it is ... is to remove the belt/tensioner and check both and the pump !

Hope this helps
