2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My 2002 eclips service engin light is on
the test results said
Po421 Warm up catalyst bellow threshold (bank 1 )
but nobody can tell me what that means, can anyone help.

Your exhaust system is broke up into bank 1 and bank 2 On a rear wheel drive this is usually driverside, passengerside. front wheel drive is more confusing. I believe this code is saying that your heated O2 sensor is not heating up fast enough. I would try to find a manual on your car to get more information.

so if i replace the o2 sensor that would be a smart first step??

I would start by checking the electrical to the sensor. You will need to dig up the specs for that. Then change the sensor if this is ok.
