Hi Alleyalsn,

So with a million possibilities where do we start?

What have you done so far?

Can you give a better description of the symptoms?

Is idling ok?

Is the Check Engine light showing?

Hi Alleyalsn,

When the CEL shows, it means something is not working correctly and it might be the cause of the problem.

Get a free scan done at Autozone and come back with the code so that we can understand your problem better.

I also have a 1997 mitsu and that happened to me for a while too. That is, right up until a plethora of problems came up. So heres a few questions for you: Are your spark plugs and wires working correctly and do you ever hear a "pop" when your driving like you ran something over? Are you loosing oil or overheating frequently? (There's this tiny length of hose that has a tendency to get a hole in it. Cheap fix if you catch it early) And when was the last time you replaced your timing belt? I pray for your sake its not the timing belt. If that baby snaps might as well call your car totaled. Mitsu's arn't non interference so if that belt snaps you're going to do ALL sorts of damage.
