my car idles at 3k and it gives gas by itself. also my check engine light is on. any ideas what could be causing this?

you need to find out why the check engine light is on. and chances are that will tell us what the problem is most likely related too.
auto zone will scan for free. and some other autopart stores will do it for free also.
post it back in p**** format.

alright...
also i was checking my spark plugs, i found they were covered in dirt and oil. and where can i find a diagram for the engine? i have some hoses from the throttle body that arent connected to anything...
