When swapping an engine and transmission in a 96 eclipse and converting from an auto to a 5 speed do I need to get anything re programed for the car to run?

Yes the tcm, transmission control module, because now it is not automatic its manual or vice versa. And the tcm isnt doing the whole job of switching gears anymore

You don’t have to switch anything from an automatic going to a standard actually your ECU will allow more RPM without switching the TCM
