Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

my engine block was rebuilt. it runs good at idle. i think the front main seal is leaking. im burning oil and i can smell gas in the valve cover. i use mobile 1 5w-20. i dont get smoke from the exhaust until i give it some gas. no oil leak until i run it for a little while. i think i need to replace the valves but its cheaper to replace it with a rebuilt head. recommended oil is 10w should i change to a higher viscosity? how do i test to find out for sure if it is my valve or something else?

HI there,

If the block was re built then i would be fairly sure that the head is the problem, it may have worn valve guides and broken stem seals, dose it puff smoke on cold start up? This is a sigh of faulty stem seals, i would also do a leak down test just to prove that the bottom end is sound as well.
