Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

my engine block was rebuilt. It runs good at idle. I think the front main seal is leaking. Im burning oil and I can smell gas in the valve cover. I use mobile 1 5w-20. I dont get smoke from the exhaust until I give it some gas. No oil leak until I run it for a little while. I think I need to replace the valves but its cheaper to replace it with a rebuilt head. Recommended oil is 10w should I change to a higher viscosity? How do I test to find out for sure if it is my valve or something else?

HI there,

If the block was re built then I would be fairly sure that the head is the problem, it may have worn valve guides and broken stem seals, dose it puff smoke on cold start up? This is a sigh of faulty stem seals, I would also do a leak down test just to prove that the bottom end is sound as well.
