1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT torque converter

I am reinstalling my trans onto a new long block, but the torque converter when fully seated will only turn halfway either direction, a little confused since the trans was fine before the swap, the only thing i did was take the torque converter out.

Not seated in pump with light inward pressure while rotating convertor it should drop back then keep rotation until it drops into pump.
