Is it possible that if the rocker arm or lifter tapping is on the same side where the misfire is that it can be due to the lifter? As in the lifter being bad causing a misfire? I replaced lifters on Hemi's before but didn't have a misfire.

Hi,

There should be a push rod that runs between the camshaft and the rocker arm. Is the rocker arm broken? Can you see the pushrod?

And yep, that is certainly the misfire. Did you purchase the vehicle this way?

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, I did get it this wayZ no push rod anywhere. I ordered another. Someone been in there maybe to check or replace something but they have maybe forgotten to put it back, cause rocker arm set has been removed before.

Hi,

That is odd to forget a pushrod. I'm questioning if they left it out to eliminate the noise so they could sell it.

Let me know what happens when you install the new one. I'm interested in knowing. Also, let me know if I can help.

Take care,

Joe

Yes, possible that the noise was worse, so they left the rod out. Anyways, just removed the head to find out that the same cylinder has one bad lifter, cam looks good. Also found that the cap that goes on the end of the other lifter, which has the missing rod is just lying there. So weird, never see that before. And guessing having no rod she popped off, but I see the others actually have a snap ring, so heck I don't know where that is, I'll look further maybe I will find it. I will order 2 lifters.

Wow. I guess if the lifter was totally collapsed, the pushrod could have come out, but that is an odd one. I don't remember seeing that happen in the past. I've seen bent ones, but not this.

Let me know how things turn out when the parts arrive. Also, let me know if I can help in any way.

Take care and thank you for the update. It's appreciated.

Hi,

If you look at pic 1, it provides the torque specs and sequence. Note there are several steps that need to be performed when doing this. Follow them as closely as possible.

The remaining pics are the directions and cautions for replacing the rocker assembly. The torque specs and procedures are included.

The very last pic is for the valve cover. I figured you may need that as well.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
