I live about 6 miles from town. When I start my car in the morning it’s fine I can drive to town with no problem, once the car is warm or if I sit at a drive through for a few minutes it will misfire or hesitate when I accelerate in 1st and 2nd gear its fine after that.

Hi,

Has the check engine light ever come on when this happens? If so, have you scanned the computer to identify which cylinder has the misfire?

There are a few things that can cause it. Things such as a coolant temp sensor, fuel pressure, crankshaft position sensor, and so on can do this. What I suggest is to have the CAN bus system scanned. CAN stands for computer area network. This is how all the control modules communicate with each other. If there is an issue, this will show which module or identify where the issue is coming from.

Here is a quick video showing how and explaining why this type of scan is the best way to go on this new of a vehicle:

If possible, have that done and let me know what is found. If you can't have it done, let me know if the check engine light is staying on when the engine is running or if it is flashing when you notice the misfire.

Take care,
Joe

Thank you, I will try to have that scan done. The engine light does not come on at all. I just did my plugs and wires and was thinking about replacing the ignition coils.

The coils can cause a misfire, but normally that would turn the check engine light on and actually flash while the misfire is happening.

If possible, have the CAN bus system scanned to see if brings up any info that will help. Let me know what you find.
