2002 Mini Cooper S misfirefalut in system 4 cylinder

2002 Mini Cooper S 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 96000 miles

shop says that i had amisfire fault in the system 4 cylinder 4 they preformed a leakdown test and foun it was at 60% leakdown. what does this mean and do i have to get it fixed...they said $3399 to fix cylinder head...rebuild

Hi there,

This is sounding like a burnt exhaust valve in the engine, that is engine compression is leaking past the burnt valve, but i feel the price is a very bit high, i would consider getting a few quote on fitting a change over cylinder head, this may be a cheaper option for you that will still address all the original problems..
