I recently replaced my instrument cluster on my car listed above GL
model. Before I did this the mileage was 57,106, now that I have a different cluster it reads 63,347. Is it at all possible for a mechanic to correct the mileage?
Many thanks.

Welcome back. Yes it is possible for it to be corrected but you would need a dealer to do it as it requires a security code to adjust the mileage.

Okay, so would it pass an mot with the wrong mileage? As my nearest VW dealer is 15 miles away.

Being in the US I'm not sure if it would be an issue. I know here it wouldn't be simply because the "new" number is higher than the old one. However if you go to
You can download the test sheet and the instructions as to what has to be checked to get an MOT completed in the UK if that is where you are located.

That is the gov. Site for the MOT. It will not let anyone outside the UK download it because of the "security rules" they have in place. I asked a friend who does MOTs but have not heard back.
