Is 370,000 Miles too much for a 6.0 diesel that has been studded?

Not really. As long as all the rest of the maintenance has been kept up it should go a while longer. I have seen ones with close to 500,000 on them still going strong. Now if the maintenance is questionable or it already is showing problems then I'd probably stay away.

When I was looking at it the dealer told me it had high mileage but had work done to it and been studded. What does that mean?

That means it has the head bolts replaced with a stud kit. Much better for it as the OEM setup has a bad habit of pulling threads and causing major damage. I would see if you can determine whatever else was done to it, maybe see if you can determine who the previous owner was and talk to them as well.

Thank you. Just one more question. It's a 2005 F350 crew cab 4wd 6.0 long wheel base with 370,000 miles. The asking price is $5,900.00. Is it worth buying?

Hey WAYLON36,

If you can determine as STEVE W. said that the maintenance was kept up to date then it could be worth it.

I would advise getting as much information from the dealer as possible if they have the service record and can show you that work has been done. Record of oil changes etc.

They should have a full inspection report to show the condition of wear items.

If they can tell you what the previous owner used the truck for that would also be a good indication of how hard of a life it has had.

These trucks can end up being expensive to repair motor wise and generally service items, suspension and brake components are not cheap.

Do as much digging as you can to give yourself the best chance at keeping the costs down in the long run.

Is this a Ford main dealer that you are buying from?

Regards, Joe

For that price, if it's in overall good shape and things have been repaired as needed and it hasn't been abused I'd say yes but it depends on the way it has been kept up. Do some background digging and see what you find.
