The heater blows but no heat...just cold air. it went out all of a sudden. I checked coolant level and it was a little low but not much...I topped it off and it still did not work. The next day the heat worked off and on. Not a constant. Is there a chance that it is the thermostat or another part that could need replaced?

Check you coolant level first and see if the level is down at all. IF so fill it and bring the engine to temperature and then check the heat.

IF it's good start looking for a leak.
