Engine Performance problem
1999 Mercury Villager 6 cyl Automatic 175000 miles

I have a 99 Mercury Villager.. the van started sputtering and stalled out.. I wait a while and its fine then sputters again.. I notice the RPM gauge jumps not climbs when I use the gas peddle. Also there is a smell of sulfur. What could it be?

Have the catalytic converter checked. It sounds like it may be plugging. Also, let me know if the check engine light has come on and what code you found.
