Engine problem
1996 Mercury Villager Engine Size 3.0 , Front Wheel Drive Automatic 130,00 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, I FELT A SLIGHT THUD AND THE VAN STARTED TO LOSE ACCELERATION. IT WAS HARD TO STEER TO THE SIDE AND HAD COMPLETELY STOPPED RUNNING. I HAD TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. USUALLY WHEN I START THE VAN I HAVE TO LISTEN FOR THE FUEL PUMP FOR A FEW SECONDS. NOW, WHEN I TRY TO START IT, I DON'T HEAR THE FUEL PUMP BUT IT DOES TRY TO CRANK OVER - BUT IT WON'T START. MY LIGHTS AND HORN ALL WORK FINE. I THINK IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL PUMP OR MAYBE FUSES OR RELAYS. I AM A FEMALE WITH A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF CARS, BUT I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHERE TO START WITH THIS. PLEASE HELP!

If the fuel pump doesn't come On-Check the 15amp fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay located in the engine compartment in the fuse/relay box near the battery. See below
