1995 Mercury Villager Mercury Villager, misfire, hesitation

Vehicle came in with severe hesitation and a really bad misfire when you rev the engine it jumps from 1000rpm to 4000rpm n doesnt go any further than 4 rpm like a rev limiter was installed I scanned the car for any trouble codes but it passed I went ahead n changed the spark plugs and wires problem still remained I change the coolant temp sensor for the ecu, the maf, and a new fuel pump but still didnt solved the problem im all out of things to do for now so could someone please help me out thanks

Inspect and test all the following listed below and get back with some results

Have you checked timing? Remember, this is the only belt driven ford engine that is an interferance engine. Also, have you checked compression, crank / cam sensors?

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
False air leakage.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard.
