1994 Mercury Tracer 4 cyl Automatic 83000 miles

Hey. My 1994 Tracer is having yet another problem. The car was working fine the other day, I get in the car to start it, put the key in, and the key will just turn as if something is stripped in the cylinder. My batter turned on and stayed on after removal of the key. I had to disconnect the battery so it didn't die on me.

My question is, does this sound like a $20 ign lock cylinder fix or a $130 ignition switch fix. (Big difference to a 17 year old car-owner)

I would say it is the lock that has failed, check this out first.
