1993 Mercury Topaz transmission stopped all at once

I was accelerating and heard a small pop and the car quit moving just like that. No reverse no forward movement. It does not even try to move. Is there a transmission pump that is easily accessible? I have had no problems in the 15 yrs i owned the car. Not really intersted in putting a $1000 dollars into a $750 car. The only good thing is that the motor runs like a top and burns no oil.

Jack the front up and put in jack stands start it up and put it in gear -is the drive axles turning if not its coming from the transmission
