Autoheadlamps on Mercury Sable

My autoheadlamp feature no longer works on my sable. The headlamps still work with the manual seting on the switch. The switch has little wear because we have always left it on the auto setting. What might be wrong?

I have a 2000 Sable with a similar problem. My dashboard lights, tail lights, and front marker lights come on at night, but not my headlights in auto mode. They do come on when turned on manually.
