Hi Robert,

No, you don't need to have it at TDC. I haven't run into any make or model that you need to have it at TDC.

the car idled a bit rough after the change. so i pulled the negative and reset. then i drove the car for a bit and the rough idle is gone at this time. will see after the car has cooled some. the idle fluctuated a bit. gassed up after a test drive and got an additional 200 extra miles out of the tank. I am grins if this is the best fix i've ever done for twenty dollars. Thank you car pros.
