2002 Mercury Sable sqeaking brakes

Even when applying slight pressure on the brajes, they make a sqeaking kind sound and aslight trembling feel with the steering wheel.
Dealer says that they have to replace main brake cylinder (?) - cost approx 500.-
Is this the right answer to the problem?

doesnt sound right to me. get a second opinion. sounds like a warped rotor and or bad pads.

I agree, But how is the pedal hieght? Sables and Taurus' are rotor eaters! Replace the pads with ceramic ones, and use the silver or gold anti-sieze compound on the parts that contact the calipers...
