2002 Mercury Sable My Car stalls and putters at stops

2002 Mercury Sable 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 50,000 miles

HI, I have a 2002 mercury sable and every time I am at a stop sign it stalls and putters than stops. It also happens when I try to park it and at any other stop. what could it be.

Is th echeck engien light on? if so haev the PCM scanned for any codes. If not, sounds like it could be a faulty Idle Air Control Valve, they go bad alot on Fords and dont always set a code
