2001 Mercury Sable engine stalls or shuts off intermitently

I visited your repair section.
I was overwhelmed with possibilities to help solve.

Engine stalls sitting at lights without warning. Does seem to misfire when accelerating too on occasion. Seems to be worse with A/C running and restarts promptly. Car runs pretty smooth. Problem has been getting worse recently.


What is most likely the cause?

Is the check engine light on? If so, we'll need to look at the codes. That will give a direction to go. Have the codes read before we start. Then get back with me.

Mr. Jasonray,

No check engine light.

In 2carpros repair fourm is a symptom described as car stalls or shuts off before check engine light can be triggered. All tune up parts are fresh and car usually runs smooth. Stalling appears after running several errands.
