2001 Mercury Sable A/C ; HEATER WORKS BUT WON'T BLOW THROUG

I had just bought the car and I was checking all the buttons on the automated A/C system when the A/c stated blowing through the defrosters. The A/C still works but I can't get it to blow through the Dash vents. I can get the heater to blow to the floor and the Defrosters but not the vents. What is the problem?

Vacuum is what control the door and selection switch
check for vacuum leak ,start under the hood
check by the brake booster vacuum hose looking for a small black hose that goes into the right side by the strut and into with the wiring harness through the firewall inside the car
