2000 Mercury Sable Failure of automatic headlights

When I have the headlights switch in the automatic position, all lights (EXCEPT the Headlamps) come on and off like they should. Headlamps work OK when I put it in the manual position.

check all fuses to see if there working if yes then trace the wires running from the automatic switch to the headlights to make sure that there are no open circuits or shorts if bothe these methods check out post back and i will help you further with this problem
