2000 Mercury Sable car problem

my charge light came on and the transmission just quit pulling while we were driving. The transmission gave no warning it was not slipping or any thing like that. What could my problem be?

Check charging system
as for the tranny check fluid and if OK
and no reverse
check for codes
suspect internal tranny failure

need manual CHECK IT @
