2000 Mercury Sable blower motor

Air Conditioning problem
2000 Mercury Sable V12

the a/c on auto but the blower continues but blowing heat. replaced the controls assy with another one from another sable and the problem continues. unplugged the power to the unit but now without the power i have no heat.

what should i be checking to find the problem?

Not being able to switch or change temp between cold to hot or vise versa
