1999 Mercury Sable won't start

1999 Mercury Sable 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My daughter left the ignition in the on position. It was like that all night. The next day I turned it off and charged the battery. When I tried to start it it would not turn over. Under the dash on the driver side there is a little black box that makes a clicking noise when I turn the key and a red light on the box flashes. I think it has something to do with the alarm system (factory). Not sure can you advise please.

Its the alarm system
if you have the remote for it use it
if not try to lock and unlock the door using the key and if that didn't work
you need to disconnect the battery
turn ignition key ON reconnect battery
