Do you have an auto light system DESCRIPTION The autolamp system provides automatic on-off control of the headlights in addition to normal headlight switch operation. The headlights will automatically turn on when outside light dims. The system also includes a delay feature which keeps the headlights on for a pre-selected time period after ignition is turned off. Major components of the system are a light sensor amplifier assembly, autolamp headlight relay, autolamp parking light relay, and an on-off switch with an integral time delay control (potentiometer). OPERATION The headlight switch must be in the OFF position and the autolamp control switch (thumb wheel) must be in the ON position for automatic operation. The light sensor must be exposed to ambient light to operate properly. Time delay can be varied up to about 3 minutes before lights turn off automatically. Turning autolamp control switch toward MAX delay position increases time headlights are on after ignition is turned off. TEST B: HEADLIGHTS ALWAYS ON NOTE:This test only applies to vehicles equipped with autolamps. Ensure headlight switch is off. Disconnect headlight switch connectors C2031 and C2032. If headlights are still on, go to next step. If headlights are off, replace headlight switch. Remove autolamp headlight relay from engine compartment fuse box. If headlights are off, go to next step. If headlights are still on, repair short to voltage in Red/Yellow wire between headlight switch and multifunction switch. Remove parking light relay from engine compartment fuse box. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (White/Violet wire) at autolamp headlight relay socket C132. See Fig below . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace autolamp headlight relay. Reconnect all components. Disconnect light sensor/amplifier harness connector C2007. If headlights go off, replace light sensor amplifier. If headlights remain on, repair short to ground in White/Violet wire between light sensor/amplifier and autolamp headlight relay.
