1999 Mercury Sable 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my husband removed my water pump tp replace with new theres a some sort of housing or spacer that bolts to the water pump with 7 bpolts . well that part broke and that part bolts to the engine with 4 bolts i dont know what its called and no1 seems to kmow what im talking anout if u can please help thank you

Hello and thanks for donating I believe you are speaking about the front cover.. I have a diagram below of a water pump and it's front cover, does this look similar to what you are talking about?
