1998 Mercury Sable 62,000 miles

I was told that my cranck on the end of the air compressor need to be replaced. and that i should replace the whole air compresser also just because they both would have 62,000 miles on them. price $1,183.00 because you have to drain the air conditions with only the cranck replace it drops to $880.00 tell me what is best

These prices seem out of line to me. I would look into remanufactured or third party replacement parts. The last compressor I bought was at an aftermarket supplier, and cost me less than $300 - and it was for a CADILLAC!!!

Also, a compressor with only 62,000 miles is most likely NOT worn out by a long ways. My suggestion is to replace the failed part, and to question the prices.
