Some Sables have a little wheel on the left side of the front of the dash that enables an automatic lighting to turn the car's lights on at night.
If this wheel is set to the maximum then the lights won't turn off for upwards of 10 minutes. Everytime you turn on the car, and turn it off again the timer resets.
Check that the wheel is set all the way to the bottom (scroll down) and clicks. It should turn the lights off, if it doesn't, then there may be a short in the light switch itself.
