Does not comes on when driving at normal speed.
It comes on after about 20 minutes of driving in high traffic stop and go braking. Drives well on open road.
Mechanic thinks it might be oil pump, but isn't sure and said it is expensive to change it if that is what it is. (He couldn't get the light to come on just by idiling it.)

Any ideas as how I can tell if it is the oil pump or what else they should look for? I would like to be a little educated prior so that I am not taken advantage of. (No isn't making any noises.) How much should I expect to pay for an oil pump replacement?

Also I think the car gets hot, but others think it is normal hot.

Thank you very much,
Lorraine

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge,if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and/or engine bearing.
