The other day i get in my car and head home from work get on the highway and set the cruise at 68mph. 8 minutes later the cruise stops working the power steering is really hard to turn and the transmission wont kick down into passing gear. All three things happened at the same time. Now every time i get in the car and get 8-10 minutes from the house it does it every time! I found some vacuum hoses that were weathered and replaced those. Other than that im at a loss. Please help!!!

The car does not stall, no engine indication or any warning light at all. After the 8 minutes or so the problem does not go away until the the car cools down. I have tried to restart the vehicle right after the problem occurs but the restart does not work. The only time it clears up is when i drive the car the following mornig but it comes right back after about 8 minutes or so of driving. Hope this helps.

Hi
Here's what I think is happening, when car cold it runs on programed run settings in the computer. Once vehicle warms then it goes into operating mode where it receives input info that it uses to control timing, fuel, shifting etc. Your car has Variable Assist power steering as speed increases steering stiffens up. So on transmission is a Vehicle Speed Sensor sending speed info to ECM. Sensor is faulty effecting transmission shift. cruise operation and steering. Have VSS checked out.
Hope this helps
