1992 Mercury Sable starter solenoid wiring

need to know on a solenoid what wires connect where i have my big red battery cable on right side the braided wire on left side but a small skinny red wire that was broke off and i have no idea where it goes. car only starts when u jump the 2 terminals with a screwdriver any ideas

Small wire goes to solenoid on a small lug. does wire have a connector on end?
